Why visit Kalingchok

Kalingchok is a remote high-altitude settlement perched at 1,780 meters on a dramatic ridge in Dolakha District, offering some of the most expansive views of the central Himalayan range. This windswept mountain village remains largely untouched by mass tourism, attracting pilgrims and adventurous trekkers seeking pristine alpine meadows and sacred sites. The area is dotted with small temples and prayer flags, and on clear days, views stretch across to Gaurishankar, Langtang, and the Kathmandu Valley below.

Kathmandu to Dhulikhel (1 hour via Araniko Highway), then jeep via Namobuddha road to Kalinchok trailhead at Kuri Ghat (5-5.5 hours). Scenic route through Bagmati Province foothills with mountain views. Road transitions from paved to rough mountain track.

Road condition:Fair

💡 Book jeep overnight or early morning from Kathmandu's Gongabu Bus Park. Shared jeeps run 6-7 AM. Road is steep and winding after Namobuddha; prone to landslides in monsoon (June-August). Best visited October-November or March-May. Bring water and snacks. Final 2-3 km may require walking if road is very damaged.
