Lalitpur is a metropolitan city and fourth most populous city of Nepal with 299,843 inhabitants living in 77,159 households per the 2021 census. It is located in the south-central part of Kathmandu Valley, a large valley in the high plateaus in central Nepal, at an altitude of 1,350 metres.

- ·Air pollution in Kathmandu Valley is severe, particularly in dry months (October–May); those with respiratory conditions should check AQI levels before extended outdoor time
- ·Traffic congestion around Lagankhel, Mangalbazar, and Ring Road intersections is significant; budget extra time during morning and evening rush hours
- ·Patan Durbar Square entry fee for foreign nationals is Rs 1000 (as of 2023); carry cash as card payment is not always available at entry booths
