• ·Entry permits are required at park checkpoints — separate fees apply for SAARC and non-SAARC nationals; carry cash as card payment is not reliably available at gates
• ·Monsoon (June–September) makes upper trails slippery and leech-heavy; the Sundarijal–Shivapuri route becomes particularly muddy above 2,000 m
• ·Leopard presence is real, not decorative — solo hiking on remote trails in low-light hours is not advisable; incidents near forest edges have been reported
• ·The park sits on the northern Kathmandu Valley rim; post-2015 earthquake trail damage on some sections has not been uniformly repaired — check trail conditions locally before heading out
• ·Water from streams should be treated; despite the park's watershed function, livestock grazing in buffer zones affects water quality on lower trails
• ·Nagarjun (Rani Ban) section closes earlier in the evening than the Shivapuri section — confirm gate closing times before planning a late return
